The short version: VocabQuest has no ads, no account, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything runs on your device. The only exception is an optional, off-by-default dictionary lookup feature, described below.
Information We Collect
VocabQuest is designed to work fully offline and does not require an account, login, or sign-up. The app does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
The following data is stored only on your device, and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Custom word lists you add via Word Lab
- Game settings (difficulty, theme, sound preferences, language)
- Progress and virtual pet companion state
- Whether you have purchased the "All Levels" unlock
Optional Online Dictionary Lookup
If a parent enables "Look up clues online" in Settings, custom words added via Word Lab may be sent to a third-party dictionary service (dictionaryapi.dev) to fetch a definition for use in the Word Cross game mode. This feature is off by default. When it is off, all custom words stay entirely on your device. No personal information is sent as part of this lookup — only the word itself.
In-App Purchases
VocabQuest offers in-app purchases processed entirely through Google Play's billing system. We do not receive or store your payment information — that is handled directly by Google Play in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. Children cannot initiate purchases — a math-gated parent control is required to access the purchase area.
Contact / Support Requests
If you use the "Contact Us" feature inside the app, it opens your device's own email app with a message addressed to our support address. Nothing is transmitted automatically — you choose whether to send it, and it is sent from your own email account.
Children's Privacy
VocabQuest is designed for children and families. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children. The app does not include chat features, user-generated public content, or any way for children to communicate with strangers.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties, except as described above (the optional dictionary lookup, and Google Play's handling of purchases).
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a revised "Last updated" date.
